Ivanka Matiss founded her gallery in 2019 in Borša, near Košice, Slovakia. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, she has since developed a body of work that reflects a vivid exploration of identity, imagination, and memory, transformed into bold expressions of colour.
Her artistic language has been shaped by travels across Europe, London, and New York, where encounters with diverse cultures and landscapes informed her search for identity. Today, her garden has become a central source of inspiration, grounding her practice in a dialogue with nature and the shifting moods of colour and light.
Matiss’s paintings are often described as an extension of the imagination, a translation of inner visions into vibrant compositions that invite collectors to see beyond the visible and connect with the emotive potential of colour.
Although her exhibition programme is in development, her works have already found homes with collectors worldwide, spanning different cultures and backgrounds. Her gallery is currently focused on sharing her art globally through her website and through curated auctions on Catawiki, where new works are regularly available to collectors.
